RESPITE
Flexible short-term temporary care for individuals who have a developmental disability or delay. Respite offers family caregivers a break from their daily routine.
Types of Respite Care:
Provider Model
The family chooses when and how to use respite services:
• Available for children and young adolescents;
• Providers are specially trained;
• Services provided either in the family home, in the home of the provider, or in the community;
• Specific number of respite hours per calendar year allocated for each family.
Center Based Model
Alta Mira’s Respite Home is a place to grow in social interaction, to transition from home to the larger community, and to feel safe in times of emergency or family crisis.
• Available for older adolescents and adults in a residential neighborhood setting;
• Supervised by trained staff, including 24-hour supervision on weekends;
• Limited to five overnight participants;
• Available Monday - Friday from 2 p.m. until 9 a.m. the following morning.
• Participants must be in a day program Monday through Friday during the day.
