Questions about Eligibility and Enrollment?

  • The Sailor is on active duty or Reservist on active duty orders.
  • The Sailor is currently enrolled in the Navy’s EFMP.
  • The Sailor has a child currently residing with them, enrolled in EFMP, birth through 18 years, and assigned category 4 or 5.
  • Eligibility must be verified with Child Care Aware® of America by the family. U.S. Navy families should contact Child Care Aware® of America’s toll-free number, 800-424-4426, or click to www.childcareaware.org for more information.

Once eligibility is confirmed, Child Care Aware® will connect the family with a case management agency administering the EFM/U.S. Navy Respite Care program.

  • This agency will work with each family to complete the necessary application and assist with connecting the family to a respite care provider that will meet their needs; meet with the family to complete the initial paperwork, then work together to identify potential respite care providers.
  • The family will interview each provider to determine which provider(s) will best meet their needs. Once a provider is selected, and the agency notified, the family can begin using respite care under EMFP.
  • Alta Mira Specialized Family Services Inc. is an EMFP/U.S. Navy Respite Care provider. Our staff is trained to address Navy families’ questions about respite care provided by our agency and help navigate inquiries to the appropriate community resources for families wanting more information.
